The Town contracts Bates Trucking to pick up Residential Refuse on Tuesdays and Fridays. All trash is to be placed in containers with tightly fitting lids. Residents should place their household trash out the night before collection as crews can start as early as 6 am.
Residents can call the town hall or email bates directly at cottagecity [at] batestrucking.com (cottagecity[at]batestrucking[dot]com) for any misses or any cart replacement issues. If it’s a cart replacement you will need to include a picture of the cart showing the damage and your address.
Bulky trash collection is on Wednesdays and residents can put out up to 3 items; anything metal/appliance related they should notify Bates before putting it out in case they have to send a different truck to collect it; lawnmowers must be free of oil & gas &/or any batteries; Grills must be free of gas. Appliances must be free of refrigerant.
Acceptable Items:
- Doors and cabinets
- Mattresses and box springs (Must be covered in protective plastic encasement)
- Hot water heaters and push lawn mowers (Remove the gas tank and drain the oil)
- Furniture: sofas, coffee tables, bed (head and footboards) dressers, tables, chairs, etc.
- Carpet and padding – must be no longer then 5ft in length, rolled, tied & taped on the ends
- Two (2) large bags of smaller household items
Bates will not collect: Flammable products, construction material, auto parts, oil, paint cans, electronics, tires or rims, animal carcasses, manure, tree stumps, dirt, stone, rock, brick, lead, acid/wet cell batteries, railroad ties, toxic materials, bio-hazardous materials or waste, propane/oxygen/helium tanks, items containing gas or oil, explosives, live ammunition or weapons, large amounts of animal waste, oversized brush, (longer than 4ft in length or 6 inches in diameter) or any item(s) that cannot be safely loaded by our crews for removal or any items that may damage our hauling equipment.
