Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Cottage City Police Department to ensure safe passage on our streets and highways to motorists and pedestrians alike. To help us reach this goal, the department employs both education to induce voluntary compliance and the fair and impartial enforcement of all traffic laws. The Red Light Camera Automated Enforcement Program is one of the tools used to aid in this process.

The violation notice you have received shows a motionless picture belonging to the registered owner. Please go online and watch the video of the violation. The Cottage City Police department approves the citation after watching the video. 

  • NO points assessed against your driver's license
  • Your insurance company is NOT notified
  • Is a public safety program
  • May be contested in court

Failing to come to a complete stop behind the white line before making a right turn on red is enforced

To avoid MVA placing a flag against your registration and additional fees, you must pay the citation before the due date listed on your second (2nd) notice.

Red Light Cameras in Cottage City

There are currently two red light cameras in use in The Town of Cottage City. 

The locations that have red light cameras are:

  • Intersection of Bladensburg Road and 38th Ave
  • Intersection of Bladensburg Road and 41st Ave

Remember, Maryland state law states that you must come to a complete stop behind the white line before making a right turn on red.
